SERC staff provide a summary of what SERC entities need to know about the new guidance
The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) issued a third coronavirus update describing date extensions for regulatory discretion and onsite compliance activities. Due to the evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, regulatory discretion will continue to be available for COVID-19 potential noncompliance when COVID-19 contributes materially or completely to the root cause of the issue. Regulatory discretion for COVID-19 related issues is now available beginning March 1, 2020, through the end of 2020.
A registered entity must report this information as soon as reasonably possible but no later than two weeks after discovery. Registered entities will need to upload the completed COVID-19-Related Self-Logging Spreadsheet to firstname.lastname@example.org with a copy to your SPOC.
Additionally, the ERO Enterprise will continue to defer on-site audits and other on-site activities through (at the least) the end of 2020.
Thank you for your dedication to ensure the health and safety of your employees, your communities, and the continued reliability and security of the SERC Region.
