Registered Entity Forum

The purpose of the Registered Entity Forum (REF) is to promote compliance excellence and provide a way for SERC registered entities to exchange information, share lessons learned, and generate concerns and questions to be provided to SERC staff anonymously through an REF Steering Committee member. All registered entities are welcomed to reach out to their REF representatives. A summary of each representative's experience in areas of Operations and Planning (O&P) or Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), along with their contact information, is available by clicking either the O&P or CIP REF Representatives link at the bottom of this page.

Complete information may be found in the REF Charter and REF Information documents.

Spring Compliance Seminar REF Questions

Attendees of the March 28-29, 2017 Spring Compliance Seminar submitted questions anonymously during the REF session. Click here for SERC responses.

Three TOP-002-4 questions needed vetting among the other regions for consistency in auditing approach. Upon completion of this vetting, it was determined there were some regional differences in responses. Therefore, during the May 2017 meeting of the ERO Compliance Monitoring Group (CMG), it was decided that the questions will be reviewed by a new Operations & Planning Compliance Task Force (OPCTF). This is a permanent task force, which consists of representatives from all eight regions. Its purpose is to develop a consensus to help ensure a consistent O&P auditing approach.

2017 REF Steering Committee Election

The REF is open to participation by all entities registered in the SERC Compliance Registry, regardless of membership status in SERC. Elections are held each November, and committee members serve a two-year term.
