Charlotte, N.C. - (February 2, 2016) – SERC Reliability Corporation President and CEO Scott Henry (left) presented the 2016 President’s Award to Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO). SERC is one of eight regions in the U.S. responsible for monitoring the reliability of the bulk power system, and the award is given annually in recognition of electric reliability excellence. MISO President and CEO John R. Bear accepted the award on his company’s behalf at the February 2, 2016 SERC CEO Summit meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina.
MISO, based in Carmel, Indiana, received the prestigious award in recognition of its dedication to the delivery of reliable electricity. The company’s commitment to reliability is shown in its willingness to exhibit and share best practices and lessons learned with fellow SERC members and registered entities.
“I am pleased that the SERC Region has long demonstrated a strong commitment to reliability excellence, and I am excited that MISO is the 2016 recipient of the SERC President’s Award,” said Mr. Henry. “Among its notable accomplishments, MISO has been highly engaged with improving the effectiveness of the region’s system models which are fundamental to planning and operating the bulk electric system.”
“MISO’s mission is to ensure reliability at the lowest possible cost for the customers in our region,” said Mr. Bear. “This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our employees to deliver on that mission. I would like to thank SERC for this award, and look forward to our continued operations across the SERC region.”
