SERC Appoints New President and Chief Executive Officer

 Charlotte, N.C. – (July 14, 2016) – SERC Reliability Corporation (SERC)  today announced the appointment of Gary J. Taylor to the position  President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective immediately. Taylor  joined SERC in February of 2015 and previously served as the  corporation's Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO). 

 "I am very confident that Gary will provide the level of leadership,  management and vision needed to take SERC to the next level in our  mission of promoting effective and efficient administration of the bulk power  system within our jurisdiction," said Greg Ford, Chairman of the SERC  Board of Directors. "In his new role, Gary will prove a tremendous asset for  our members, our entities and more than 53 million customers who rely on  SERC."

Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO)

Charlotte, N.C. - (February 2, 2016) – SERC Reliability Corporation President and CEO Scott Henry (left) presented the 2016 President’s Award to Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO). SERC is one of eight regions in the U.S. responsible for monitoring the reliability of the bulk power system, and the award is given annually in recognition of electric reliability excellence. MISO President and CEO John R. Bear accepted the award on his company’s behalf at the February 2, 2016 SERC CEO Summit meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

MISO, based in Carmel, Indiana, received the prestigious award in recognition of its dedication to the delivery of reliable electricity. The company’s commitment to reliability is shown in its willingness to exhibit and share best practices and lessons learned with fellow SERC members and registered entities.

“I am pleased that the SERC Region has long demonstrated a strong commitment to reliability excellence, and I am excited that MISO is the 2016 recipient of the SERC President’s Award,” said Mr. Henry. “Among its notable accomplishments, MISO has been highly engaged with improving the effectiveness of the region’s system models which are fundamental to planning and operating the bulk electric system.”
